Privacy notice

Last updated 11 October 2026

This notice explains what personal data Import Star Ltd collects through this website and when you contact us, why we use it, and your rights under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).

Who we are

Import Star Ltd is the controller of your personal data. We are a company registered in Northern Ireland, company number NI743378, with our registered office at 2b Magees Road, Ballinderry Upper, Lisburn, Northern Ireland, BT28 2JE. You can contact us about anything in this notice at contact@importstar.co.

What we collect and why

When you visit this website

This website has no forms, accounts, analytics or advertising.

To deliver pages and protect the site from abuse, our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data about each request, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time. Cloudflare does this on our behalf as our processor. We see only aggregated statistics, such as the number of requests, not individual visitors' IP addresses.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: keeping the website available and secure.

When you email us

If you email us, we receive your name, email address, the contents of your message and anything else you choose to include. We use it to reply to you and, if you want to work with us, to discuss and prepare that work.

Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: responding to enquiries and dealing with people who contact us about work. If you are entering into a contract with us yourself (for example as a sole trader), the basis is that the processing is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract.

You don't have to give us any personal data, but if you email us we need your email address to reply.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your data or share it for marketing. These service providers process it on our behalf:

We may also disclose personal data where the law requires us to.

Transfers outside the UK

Cloudflare is based in the United States. For transfers from the UK it relies on its certification under the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, and on standard contractual clauses if that is not available.

Our email is hosted by Zoho in its EU data centres. UK law recognises the European Economic Area as giving adequate protection, so no further safeguard is needed for that. In rare cases, a small number of Zoho's staff in India may access data for technical support, under standard contractual clauses between Zoho's companies.

How long we keep it

Cookies

This website's own code doesn't set cookies or use similar technologies. If Cloudflare's security checks need to tell people apart from automated traffic, Cloudflare may set a security cookie. Cookies like this are strictly necessary for the site's security, so they don't need your consent under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

Some of these rights have conditions and exceptions. We don't make decisions about you based solely on automated processing.

To use any of these rights, email contact@importstar.co. We will respond without undue delay and within one month. The law allows us to extend this by up to two further months for complex requests, and if we do, we will tell you why.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, email us at contact@importstar.co. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it without undue delay and tell you the outcome.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice if how we use personal data changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
